An Equity and Social Justice Project of Black Unitarian Universalists of the Pacific Northwest Learn how the legacy of human enslavement continues to impact us today. Special guest, Tom DeWolf is a direct descendant of the DeWolf family—the largest slave-trading family in United States history. Featured in the critically acclaimed documentary Traces of the Trade: A Story of the Deep North, the film chronicles the DeWolf family’s journey to come to grips with this public/private history. Along the way are questions of identity, complicity, racial reconciliation and repair for them as DeWolf descendants, and by extension white-skinned Americans in general.
