Our Christian Fellowship Group continues to evolve as people join and the discussion of what we would like to learn becomes more focused. We will continue our exploration of Christ for Unitarian Universalists: A New Dialogue with Traditional Christianity by Scotty McLennan but we have also added in the study of the Parables of Jesus – one per meeting. Did you know there are 46 Parables? Neither did I! At our March meeting, we also made the decision to begin an examination of the Communion Service. We will take the next few months learning about how this service can serve to enrich the feeling of community and unity among its participants followed by an actual service later in the summer/early fall.
This group meets the third Thursday evening of each month from 7:00 – 9:00 pm in the Fireside Room. The overall mission of the group is to deepen our understanding of the Christian story as seen through the lens of Unitarian Universalism. We do this through Bible Study, discussion and support. The group is open to Christians and non-Christians alike, however it is clear that the focus of the group is on the Christian Story.
Our Next meeting is Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Fireside Room. We will be discussing Chapters 7 and 8 of Christ for Unitarian Universalists and continuing with another Parable of Jesus. Keep an eye on this page - I plan to eventually download our agendas and handouts from our meetings.
Finally, a decision was recently made by the group to continue our meetings through the summer - one meeting per month is not at all onerous and we're enjoying our time together. There is always an open chair for new members. If you’d like more information, please contact Patti McCall at firstname.lastname@example.org.
