Goals for Children and Youth Programs

To help our children to develop talents for critical thinking, conscience and conviction, by presenting and encouraging questions about life and living, and by honoring their diverse thoughts and ponderings.

To help our children gain a pride in their religious identity as Unitarian Universalists, with an awareness of the meaning of our principles and purposes, our history and the diverse sources of upon which we draw for wisdom.

To provide our children with knowledge of options for spiritual practices.

We want our children to have the ability to center themselves, and to be in touch with their inner life and wisdom.

To help our children feel loved at our Fellowship through intergenerational activities, rites of passage, and strong programming. To help our children to gain skills in community process by providing opportunities for them to organize and provide leadership in Fellowship activities and projects.

To have opportunities to serve the wider community to assist people in need and to promote social and economic justice, as a tangible expression of our faith.

To help our children understand and appreciate human diversity, including the varieties of loving families.

To teach the value of stewardship of our natural environment, and the belief that the choices we make matter to the interdependent web of existence.

To expose our children to the primary Judeo-Christian wisdom stories which are referred to frequently in our culture, as well as to teach them about the beliefs, wisdom and rituals of the major world religions.
