When you sit on the WSUU Board, you tackle a lot of issues. The issues that really get the blood stirring are stuff like flood, fire, and theft. Then there are making plans for the future, troubleshooting problems that arise, keeping track of finances, and making suggestions for improvements to the day-to-day operations of the church.
You quickly develop an awesome appreciation for everyone who contributes to making this congregation run smoothly. None more so that those who are responsible for giving us the experience of a meaningful gathering on Sunday morning. Our service may be joyful, it may be challenging, it may provide comfort, it may provoke thought. At its best, it is transcendent.
Many people contribute to creating the magic that occurs on Sunday morning.
This week, I would like to express thanks for Mark Newton’s role in shaping the Sunday morning experience at WSUU. Mark, in his role as Worship Council Chair, has established the highest standards for the Sunday Service for over a decade. Compassion, grace and eloquence have been the hallmarks of his presence as a service leader. He’s never complained about the recurrent workload or the last minute requests to shuffle the schedule of speakers. Now that he’s newly retired from the Worship Council, I would like to thank him for his many years of outstanding service. Thanks to Mark and to the entire Worship Council for all they do.
