The Holidays at Westside

Blue Holidays

December 18th, 4:30 – Zoom

The holiday season can be especially difficult for lots of folks, filled with the grief of loss, of loneliness, of challenging relationships or a haunting church trauma. Especially when the world around us seems to call out for joy unceasing. Come together with Rev. Christopher for a time of meditation and prayer, where sadness and melancholy are allowed, our burdens shared and lightened. https://zoom.us/my/wsuuminister

Solstice Service

December 21st, 7-8pm
Labyrinth opens at 5pm, closes at 9pm
Myrtle Reservoir Park (35th and Myrtle)

The longest night approaching, let us gather under night sky and give thanks for the darkness and praise the returning light. We’re assembling a luminaria labyrinth for folks to walk, and sharing a service of song, word and ritual from 7-8pm. Stay after service this week to decorate a luminaria to add to our path.

Holiday Cookie Baking Extravaganza

December 22nd, 1-4pm

Gingerbread, shortbread, sugar cookies too! Join us in the Westside kitchen and social hall for merriment-filled baking and cookie decorating (we’ll be sure to sample the wares under the tent outside)! We’re baking cookies for the Christmas Eve carol-singing to be accompanied by hot chocolate and apple cider. Anything we can bake beyond our need will go to the White Center Welcome Table to be shared as take-home treats on Christmas Day. Come one, come all! Send Rev. Christopher a note if you’re planning to attend or if you’d like to help out.

Christmas Eve Worship

December 24th, 5-6pm

Registration for Christmas eve worship is now closed as capacity had been reached. Please join the livestream of this service on our YouTube Channel. Join us for a beautiful service of story, lessons, and carols, with music from members of the Westside Chorale. We’ll be following all of the precautions we’ve put in place for our Sunday morning services in order to keep the community safe.

Carol Sing

December 24th, 6pm, Westside’s North Parking Lot

Healthy gathering guidelines mean we can’t sing our holiday carols inside, so let’s do it outside instead! Scott Farrell, our beloved music director, will be leading us in songs of the season, as we sip hot cider and hot chocolate, and nom on cookies too!
