Dear Westside Community,
As the fall approaches, your Board of Trustees is hopeful and excited about what is coming for Westside. We had the opportunity to come together for a retreat on Saturday, July 30, and set priorities for the coming year. We will soon have an action plan available, but here is a preview:
This year, our overarching principles guiding our work are equity, joy, and service. Our priority areas of focus are community building (including right relations and racial justice work), selection of a part-time contract minister, and sustainable operations. We will also continue our ongoing commitments to worship, religious exploration, and pastoral care. Join board members after the service on Sunday, August 28, in the Fireside Room to ask questions or visit.
We need you to join us in accomplishing these priorities. We see and appreciate those of you that have stepped up already to take on volunteer roles, and we invite everyone to get involved in building our beloved community. We will have information on volunteer opportunities and priority needs at our ingathering social hour on Sunday, September 11.
The fall will be a great time at Westside. We will have worship two Sundays per month (see the schedule in this Westside Week and mark your calendar!), and some special events on other days. For example, we encourage you to join us for the Beloved Community World Café on Sunday, September 18th at 10:00 am at church or Wednesday September 21st at 7:00 pm on Zoom. We look forward to connection and celebration with you in the weeks and months to come.
Our community is still here and will become more visible this fall. We are glad you are a part of it, and we look forward to seeing you.
With love,
WSUU Board of Trustees
