A Personal Reflection from Your Out-going VP

Dear Westside Congregation,

Serving as the vice president of the board of trustees at Westside UU
for the past two years has been a very fulfilling experience. I don’t
have to tell you that there were ups and downs, but there was never
any doubt that what the board was working towards together was
meaningful. Working with the dedicated staff members and the many
volunteers from Worship to RE, from Music to Facilities, was very
inspiring.

One of the greatest benefits of serving on the board of trustees is
the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals towards a
common goal. We came from different backgrounds and have different
perspectives, but we share a deep commitment to our congregation and
its values. Serving in a team full of integrity, goodwill, and shared
responsibility was always rewarding. Through our work together, we
have been able to create a stronger community.

I would encourage anyone who is considering serving on the board of
trustees at Westside to take the leap and get involved. It may seem
daunting at first, but the rewards are big. If you’d like to chat
about it, I’m more than willing as is our fabulous NomCom, even if
it’s hypothetically for some time in the future. Not only will you
have the chance to make a positive impact, but you will also develop
skills and deeper relationships that will serve you well in all
aspects of your life. Together, we can continue to build a better,
more compassionate place to hold our beloved community.

With much appreciation,
Marco
