Parenting Group meets on the third Sundays of the month from 10:30am–11:45 am, and is open to parents/caregivers of children, youth, young adults, and adults of all ages.
Sunday August 18th WSUU Parenting Group meeting: folks can meet us at 10:30 am directly at the playground area at Lake Burien Memorial Park or or we’ll meet you outside church between 10 and 10:15 am and give rides to folks that need them, please let us know you’re coming so we can be sure to look for you and your family. Lake Burien Memorial Park located at 1620 SW 149th Street, Burien provides 4.6 acres of active use space including open lawn area, tennis courts, walking trail, playground, and restrooms. The amenities of the park make it a great place for community events, such as summertime concerts.
There are some picnic tables and benches for sitting as well as the nice grass at this park. This park has accessible parking and is flat with a paved walking path and the playground includes nets, slides, belts and climbers providing lots of fun and challenges that promote physical development and strategic thinking, while also creating hangouts where kids can take a break and connect with others. All Westside families and folks interested in Westside’s Parenting Group are welcome to attend with your families. Please note there is no RE content and no RE volunteers on the 3rd Sunday August instead we’ll be playing and chatting and hanging in the park together. Feel free to bring snacks to share but you don’t have to, we’ll have some for all.
In this monthly meeting time, we are creating a space of connection for parents and caregivers to share, and to give and receive support. We are offering interest-based content for parents and caregivers; topics such as family rituals, creating holiday traditions, having hard conversations, and parenting/caregiver strategies. For more information contact Leilani Davenberry (leilani@wsuu.org), or Noella Natalino (nnatalino@gmail.com).
In between our parenting meetings, we offer an online WSUU parent discussion space. Please note that parents do not have to join, it is totally optional. Parents who wish to join are invited to the online discussion space after having attended one of our parenting in-person group meetings to further our connections and conversations. If you’ve already attended one of our parenting meetings and wish to join or have questions please us.
