As we wrap up this year’s thrilling auction, let’s give a standing ovation to our incredible
auction team! Co-chairs Shelley Webb and Judi Finney, Internal Procurement leads
Laura White and Lisa Maynard, External Procurement champions Mike West and
Sheree Porter, and Night of Party maestros Leah LaCivita and Don Wahl have truly
raised the bar. Their dedication brought in an abundance of generous donations and
sparked contagious excitement throughout our community. The bidding wars were
fierce, the energy was electric, and together we’ve ensured this year’s auction will be
remembered as a resounding triumph!
Spark Sundays are lighting up 2026! On the first Sunday of each month, nearly 40
congregants gather, forming small groups of 3-4 to dive deeper into meaningful
conversations and genuine connections. If you haven’t experienced a Spark Sunday
yet, don’t miss out—come join us and discover the joy of building lasting relationships
within our vibrant community!
Exciting news: the board has greenlit a major revamp of the WSUU website! Our vision
is to create a welcoming, accessible online home for potential new members, while
making sure our current members can easily find everything they need. Stay tuned for a
fresh, user-friendly experience that reflects the spirit and inclusivity of our community.
As shared during the January 25th service, we’re preparing to bid a fond farewell to our
beloved Administrator, coach, and Director of Operations, Shannon Day, who will retire at the
end of the church calendar on June 30th. Shannon’s impact has been immeasurable,
and we’ll miss her dearly. The search for her successor is already underway. Look for
job postings in mid-February, with interviews and selections happening through March
and April. We aim to welcome our new Operations Chief by June 1st, hoping for a
smooth transition into our community.
Meanwhile, the NONCOM committee is hard at work, crafting innovative recruiting tools
and assembling a dynamic slate of candidates for the year ahead. One exciting new
project: a video series featuring current board members sharing their experiences and
insights. We’re confident that those stepping into board service this July will find it as
meaningful and rewarding as we have—full of opportunities to lead, connect, and make
a lasting difference.
