Leilani Davenberry

Leilani and her family joined Westside in 2012. One of her personal favorite Westside moments was standing in the sanctuary with her spouse with other gay married couples as we celebrated marriage equality. Reverend Peg had married Leilani and Soph in the stands at a roller derby match during the half time show and they had their reception in the Social Hall with wedding photography in Westside’s beautiful garden. Rev. Carter Smith

Carter joined us in the spring of 2023 as our new minister, on a half-time basis. She is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist from North Carolina whose calling to ministry is centered around building healthy and deeply connected communities that make space for people to share their gifts. Carter has a BA in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School. As part of her training to become a minister, she served as the Intern Minister at the First Unitarian Church in Portland, and as Chaplain Intern at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
