Who We Are

This group of lay volunteers have been trained in spiritual companioning and pastoral care. They are available to provide compassionate support to members of our community during times of personal crisis, transition, or celebration. Embodying Westside’s values of love, respect, and mutual support, they are charged with supporting our Minister by aiding in the caring work of this congregation.
What We Do
Provide Emotional and Spiritual Support: Offer compassionate listening and presence to congregants during times of grief, illness, loneliness, or life transition.
Coordinate Congregational Support: Mobilize volunteers for short-term practical assistance during times of crisis.
Collaborate with Ministry and Leadership: Communicate with church leadership to identify and respond to community-wide needs.
Support Rituals and Memorials: Assist with memorial services, hospital visits, or other life rituals when requested by the minister.
Foster a Caring Community Culture: Promote a spirit of compassion and mutual support within the congregation; help identify and welcome those who may be isolated or in need of connection.
Confidentiality and Privacy Statement
The WSUU SOUL Team is committed to providing compassionate, respectful, and confidential support to members and friends of our community.
While we honor the privacy of each individual we serve, members of the Pastoral Care Team may share relevant information within the team and with the minister in order to provide coordinated, thoughtful care. These conversations are held in strict confidence and take place only within closed meetings of the team. Any records maintained—such as brief notes or care logs—are securely stored and used solely for the purpose of supporting ongoing care and ensuring continuity.
We are dedicated to upholding the trust placed in us and will never share personal information beyond the team or ministry staff without explicit permission, except in cases where there is concern for someone’s safety or well-being.
This shared covenant of confidentiality is central to our work and reflects our deep respect for the dignity, autonomy, and spiritual integrity of every person we serve.
