Rev. Katie Lawson

Children and youth have been at the center of Katie’s professional life for 35 years. Among other things she has taken them on long wilderness trips, taught them in middle school classrooms, coached their soccer teams, led them in small groups at an environmental education center, been their substitute teacher, and been their Religious Education teacher. She is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister and holds a Masters of Education. She loves being outdoors, being silly, and building things. Most of all she loves kids.

Rev. Carter Smith

Carter joined us in the spring of 2023 as our new minister, on a half-time basis. She is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist from North Carolina whose calling to ministry is centered around building healthy and deeply connected communities that make space for people to share their gifts. Carter has a BA in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School. As part of her training to become a minister, she served as the Intern Minister at the First Unitarian Church in Portland, and as Chaplain Intern at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
